A new trailer for the Amazon documentary series FACEOFF: Inside the NHL debuted yesterday. The trailer included a clip that has gone viral, featuring Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid passionately trying to get his team to raise their collective game.

    The reaction has been varied.

Most fans have praised McDavid's display of emotion, while others have resorted to name-calling. The series will debut on October 4th (with McDavid featured in the fifth and sixth episodes of the six-episode series), and McDavid gave the press some insight into what was happening in the viral clip.

"They shot things in our most intense moments, most meaningful moments, they shot it they may as well use it. There's lots of emotions there, and the fans will see that."

As far as the rest of the series is concerned, there's more where that came from.

"You are going to see hockey players, but you are going to see the human side of it. You are going to see joy on one side and heartbreak on one side." This no doubt refers to more footage similar to some that made the social media rounds earlier in the summer, where you could see the heartbreak he refers to on each and every one of the players' faces after losing in Game seven.

Speaking of the people behind the players, McDavid spoke about what it was like to let the crews in behind the scenes.

"Hopefully, it's worth it...it's not the easiest thing to let some media in (for) some of those moments."

"You are going to see emotions from both sides. Guys are playing for their dream. I think you'll see that, you'll feel that."

This series will be a look behind the curtain like none before, especially if that viral clip indicates the kind of content that awaits hockey fans.

"It was never my plan to be the star of the show."

Like it or not, McDavid is the star, and that will not change anytime soon.
