The former Edmonton Oilers winger has struggled with his new team.
Ken Holland and the Edmonton Oilers had to make some tough choices this past off-season. Primarily, the decision to trade Klim Kostin and Kailer Yamamoto to the Detroit Red Wings.

Yamamoto was later bought out and signed with the Seattle Kraken. Kostin stuck around the Red Wings by signing a two-year $2-million cap hit contract.
To say that his season hasn't gone smoothly might be a bit of an understatement. In 23 games he only has three goals. That is a 0.13 points per game pace (PTS/G) - which would be the worst of his short career.

His time on ice this year has already taken a significant dip from last year. With the Oilers he was playing 10:04 a night. This year he has skated 8:40 on average per game.
Over his 126 career games he has averaged 9:29 per game. So this year he is playing almost a whole minute less than that.
He has also struggled with a few injuries. This last one he is currently working his way back to the lineup. He hasn't played a game since December 18th - and two games before that was a healthy scratch.

Kostin was a fan favorite while he was a member of the Oilers, so you hate to see him struggle on a new team.
