The former Edmonton Oilers forward will likely get some game time with new organization.

The Edmonton Oilers will be harder on themselves than the media and fans are on them.

The Edmonton Oilers have had some good players traded away from the organization. Most notably Wayne Gretzky in the now-infamous deal that included cash because of financial issues with the organization.

Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle, and Jeff Petry are more recent names that have found some measure of success after moving on from the Oilers. Hall won the Hart Trophy in 2017-18 with the New Jersey Devils. He put together a 93 point campaign, a career best.

Some former Oilers have not been as lucky. Caleb Jones and Ethan Bear have bounced around organizations, and found themselves with new teams at the beginning of 2023-24.

One former Oiler has had a rough off-season after a rough year - Jesse Puljujarvi. After getting traded to the Carolina Hurricanes at the trade deadline last year, he found himself without a contract in the summer.

One double hip surgery later and a free agent tryout agreement with the Pittsburgh Penguins and it looks like the next step for his return to gameplay begins today.

Today he signed a PTO with the Penguins AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The Penguins next game is Friday January 5th, so he could potentially get some ice time as soon as then.

For Puljujarvi's sake, I hope he can at least play pain-free and feel like himself again.
