The 2024 World Junior Championship officially kicks off on December 26th. Every team has had a chance to play pre-tournament games.
Canada's pre-tournament schedule included games against Denmark, Switzerland and the USA. They won against Denmark and Switzerland by a score of 8-0 and 6-3 respectively - while dropping their contest against USA by a 6-5 score in overtime.

Now the team is enjoying a two day break before kicking off their tournament play against Finland on Tuesday. Yesterday, Hockey Canada made an official announcement regarding the captains of the hockey team.
Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Fraser Minten was named Captain for the World Junior tournament. Owen Beck, Matthew Savoie, Maverick Lamoureux, and Matthew Poitras were all named alternate captains.

Savoie of course, is the younger brother of Oilers forward prospect Carter Savoie - who is currently playing for the Bakersfield Condors.
Minten collected three goals and four points in his three pre-tournament games. He has found considerable chemistry with 2024 Draft Eligible forward Macklin Celebrini.
