Inclusivity in hockey just took a major hit. Earlier this calendar year the NHL banned wearing Pride Night jerseys (and any other themed night jersey).
This was a blow to the LGBTQ community. Pride Night jerseys allowed LGBTQ individuals feel seen and welcomed.

It's one thing to have Pride initiatives, as they often focus on things behind the scenes. But it's a different feeling watching your favorite player wear a jersey that symbolizes "you are welcomed here".
After that ban, Pride Tape was the only (albeit small) way to visually show support for the LGBTQ community.
Now Outsports has reported that each NHL team has received a memo detailing the ban of Pride Tape use on the ice. That means they can't wear Pride Tape on their sticks for warm ups, games, and practices.
Another huge blow.
What would happen if Edmonton Oilers players started wearing the tape regardless? Would they slap Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman with $10,000 fines? Suspensions?

Both Hyman and McDavid have spoken out about the importance of being inclusive - and I believe both would pay a small fine to help marginalized fans of the sport feel like they belong in the world of hockey.
The NHL should be taking steps forward, not backward. This proves that being inclusive isn't a priority for them.
