With Connor McDavid out the Edmonton Oilers have added a new body to the top power play unit.

Edmonton Oilers will see Mattias Ekholm return to the lineup. Expected to be paired with Evan Bouchard.

The Connor McDavid-less Edmonton Oilers are having their first practice without their captain this season.

After playing for only 14:04 in the Oilers most recent game, Evander Kane will be added to the Oilers top power unit.

Kane only has one point so far in the young 2023-24 regular season. He's averaged 17:32 of ice time per game. With that kind of deployment he should have at least one or two more points than he presently has.

This is the perfect time for Kane to rise to the occasion and prove that the Oilers were right to make a multi-year commitment on him.
