The Edmonton Oilers made a move on Monday night.
At the end of last week Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch said there would be an extra defenseman called up. Knoblauch likes to have an extra body on the roster for road trips.
Because of his deployment with the Bakersfield Condors defenseman Philip Broberg will remain with the team. Instead, Phil Kemp will be the call up.
Kemp is a 6-foot-3 213 lbs right-handed defenseman. He was a seventh round pick from the 2017 draft, selected 208th overall.
This past May be signed a two-year two-way deal worth $775k each year. Last year he gathered 21 points in 71 AHL games.

So far this season he's played 26 games. He has five points so far and has mostly played with Broberg. Hopefully he can help the Oilers if needed in a pinch, and ideally the Condors can make due without him for a game or two.
Ben Gleason could have been called up, but it's possible that they just wanted to get Kemp some practice reps with the NHL team.
The Oilers play the Chicago Blackhawks at 6:30 PM Mountain Time tomorrow night.
