The Edmonton Oilers head coach is expecting more from all of his players - but these ones specifically.

The Edmonton Oilers will be harder on themselves than the media and fans are on them.

Despite winning their latest game against the Calgary Flames the Edmonton Oilers are in a hole to start the 2023-24 regular season.

While the goaltending seems to by settling in, order areas need to improve. This was illustrated by one move made by the Oilers earlier today - they put Adam Erne on waivers for the purpose of assigning him to the AHL.

While the top six forward group hasn't had issues producing, the same can't be said for the bottom half of the line up. In fact, head coach Jay Woodcroft had something to say about Erne being put on waivers:

It's clear from this quote that Woodcroft wants more from the bottom six forwards. They will have a chance to add that on Thursday night, when the Oilers take on the Dallas Stars.

They'll have a new face in the mix when that happens as Sam Gagner was signed to a one-year two-way deal earlier today.
