Oilers Defender Has Strong Game On Big Night

Connor McDavid wasn't the only Edmonton Oilers player to have a great night.

EDMONTON -- It takes a team to win games.

During last night's 3-2 overtime win over the Nashville Predators, the Edmonton Oilers proved that theory correct. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl led the way.

But Darnell Nurse continued his strong play. Kris Knoblauch was eager to speak about what has been going right for the defender in his post-game scrum.

"A lot more confidence with the puck," Knoblauch revealed. "Being able to join the rush, making good plays. A lot of it in the defensive zone, winning the race for a puck...and making little plays."

Last night was about more than a win for Nurse. He was on the ice for McDavid's 1000th and 1001th point milestones.

"It's pretty cool to be out there and be a part of," Nurse told the media after the game.

"It's nice to chip in."

Nurse had a big game himself. He scored two goals, one of which was the game-winner, in addition to getting the secondary assist on McDavid's 1000th point.

"If you find the soft ice they're going to find you," Nurse said of the overtime winner. McDavid's playmaking skills were on full display on the goal. He made a spinning, no-look pass to the defender who made no mistake firing the puck past the Predators goalie.

Nurse played 22:12, fired two shots on net and landed four hits. The defender has had a string of good performances early in the season. For the Oilers sake, let's hope this run continues.
