Oilers' First-Rounder Can't Stop Scoring Points

This Edmonton Oilers prospect is producing points at will.

The Edmonton Oilers have a great prospect in Sam O'Reilly. He has 35 points in 34 OHL games, and is currently on an 11-points in 6 games hot streak,

The Edmonton Oilers don't have a lot of great prospects. However, a few of the prospects that they do have are starting to have great seasons.

Chief among them is recent first-round selection Sam O'Reilly.

O'Reilly was the 32nd overall selection in the 2024 NHL entry draft. The Oilers signed him to a three-year entry-level contract in 2024.

The young center is on an absolute heater right now. He has five goals and six assists for 11 points in his last six games. O'Reilly has also fired 19 shots in those same games.

His 2024-25 season is shaping up to be his breakout season. After recording 56 points in 68 games last year, he's well on his way to scoring more than that this season.

O'Reilly currently has 35 points in 34 games. He's also fired 100 shots on net. Additionally, he's already matched his powerplay and shorthanded goal totals from last season.

The prized prospect has scored timely goals this season. O'Reilly already has scored three game-winning goals. He only scored two in 2023-24.

On New Year's Eve, O'Reilly had his best game of the season to date. He recorded one goal and three assists in a four-point effort.

His recent offensive explosion combined with his solid defending have him shaping up to be a great two-way threat for years to come.
