Oilers Have 3 Maple Leafs Trade Targets To Consider cover image

The Oilers should be keeping an eye on these three Maple Leafs.

Now that the Olympics are over, all eyes will be on the trade market between now and the deadline. The Edmonton Oilers are certainly a team to watch, as they should be looking to add to their roster.

Due to this, we here at The Hockey News Oilers have been looking at potential trade targets from this year's expected sellers who could be fits on the Oilers. In this latest edition of the series, let's focus on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Brandon Carlo, D

Brandon Carlo could be a strong fit on an Oilers club that needs a steady stay-at-home defenseman on their right side. If the Oilers acquired him, he could slot very nicely on their second pairing and penalty kill.

Carlo would also be more than a rental for the Oilers if acquired, as he is signed until the end of next season. This undoubtedly adds to his appeal.

Carlo has appeared in 34 games this season with the Maple Leafs, where he has recorded zero goals, five assists, 67 blocks, and a plus-4 rating.

Bobby McMann, LW

The Oilers have been viewed as a potential landing spot for Bobby McMann, and it makes sense when noting that they need another solid middle-six forward. If the Oilers brought him in, he could fit perfectly on their second line and power play.

McMann is currently in the middle of a strong year with the Maple Leafs, too. In 56 games this season, the 29-year-old forward has recorded 19 goals, 13 assists, 32 points, and 126 hits. With numbers like these, he would give the Oilers a nice mix of secondary scoring and grit if acquired.

Nicolas Roy, C

If the Maple Leafs make Nicolas Roy available, he is somebody who the Oilers should strongly consider pursuing. The 29-year-old forward would be a great fit for their third-line center spot, which is something that the Oilers should be looking to address. He would also give the Oilers another penalty-killing forward.

Roy has appeared in 54 games this season with the Maple Leafs, where he has five goals, 15 assists, 20 points, 58 hits, and a plus-2 rating. The 6-foot-4 forward would also be more than a rental for Edmonton, as he has a $3 million cap hit until the end of next season.
