Edmonton Oilers tried out some new pairings at practice today.

Brett Kulak had the worst expected goals against per 60, yet many say he was the best Edmonton Oilers defenseman on any given night. What gives?

The Edmonton Oilers could welcome a vital member of their blue line return to the lineup on Saturday. If the pairings at the practice this morning are any indication of what the game plan is for Saturday - there could be some welcome changes.

Mattias Ekholm appears to be ready to go for Saturday. It also looks like he is back on a pairing with Evan Bouchard. The pairing were dynamite in their time together during the regular season and the playoffs.

The other pairings are shaping up to be Darnell Nurse with Cody Ceci with Brett Kulak and Philip Broberg making up the last pairings.

The Kulak-Broberg pairing will be one to watch, as both defenders can play 16+ minutes. If Nurse & Ceci struggle, look for the third pairing to play more minutes.

An Ekholm-Bouchard pairing could be the jolt this team needs to bounce back on Saturday.
