The Edmonton Oilers have another potential injury on their hands.

Edmonton Oilers look to bounce back from their embarrassing Game 1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

The Edmonton Oilers take on the Calgary Flames today in the first outdoor game this year. This is also the first Battle of Alberta for the 2023-24 season. The Heritage Classic today is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the first Heritage Classic - that took place in November of 2003, and also featured the Oilers.

All signs are pointing to Connor McDavid returning to the lineup for the game. We will have confirmation from head coach Jay Woodcroft closer to puck drop.

In the meantime, there has been an intriguing development around the team. There appears to be an undisclosed injury to one of the Oilers players. It is possible that this player will not suit up for today's game.

Mattias Janmark was spotted with his arm in a sling on Saturday. Of course we don't know the exact nature of his injury - other than it involves his arm.

If this injury is going to keep Janmark out of the lineup for longer than two weeks, he can be put on IR. If that happens, the Oilers would be able to call up a player from the Bakersfield Condors.

Raphael Lavoie has been dominating the AHL in the Condors five games this year. With 27 shots, seven points and 17 penalty minutes, he's stating his case for the Oilers to pick him as the team's first call up of the year.
