EDMONTON -- Scoring goals is the name of the game.

No matter how you slice it, hockey comes down to who can score the most goals. Fortunately for Edmonton Oilers fans, Leon Draisaitl is pretty good at doing exactly that.

So far this season, he's put eight behind opposing goaltenders.

Draisaitl has four goals in his past three games, five goals in his last four, and two two-goal performances. However, his latest two-goal game has put him in the record books.

Draisaitl is the first NHLer to record 10 multi-goal performances against the Nashville Predators. No one has produced that many multi-goal games against them.

Last night, Draisaitl had a particularly impressive night. In 19:20 of ice time, he scored two goals and assisted on Viktor Arvidsson's opening tally. But to those following along with the star forward, he's been a fantastic goal-scorer for a very long time.

His first full season was in 2015-16, when he played 72 games. Since then, he has scored 353 goals. Only two players are ahead of him: Auston Matthews (373) and Alex Ovechkin (383). Since 2018-19, he ranks second with 280 goals, only 19 behind Matthews.

Not bad for someone who hasn't won a Maurice Richard trophy.

He is fifth overall in goals this season, behind Nico Hischier, Cole Caufield, Nikita Kucherov, and Kyle Connor. He only needs two more to be tied for the lead with Hischer and Caufield.

If he keeps scoring goals like this, don't be surprised to see Draisaitl compete for the Richard trophy.
