Newsflash, the Edmonton Oilers rough start to the 2023-24 regular season just got tougher. In their latest game against the Winnipeg Jets they had their star player -Connor McDavid - injured at the end of the third period.
At the end of the game none of Leon Draisaitl, Stuart Skinner or Darnell Nurse knew what was going on with McDavid.
Connor McDavid.Jay Woodcroft was able to tell us that the injury was "muscular in nature". That at least tells us that it isn't a long term injury.
Yesterday the Oilers shared an update on social media:
So now we are being told it's an upper body injury and that he will be out one to two weeks. The Heritage Classic game is exactly one week away from when the Oilers made this announcement.
From the sounds of things, it's very likely that McDavid will be out for the Heritage Classic against the Calgary Flames.
But with McDavid there is always a chance that he will surprise everyone and be cleared to play right before Sunday's puck drop.
