It's the league's worst kept secret that the Edmonton Oilers need a goaltender. There have been many goalies rumored to have a connection to the Oilers. From Jordan Binnington to Juuse Saros to Jake Allen.
All of those names make sense for one reason or another. One name that has emerged today that also makes sense, Petr Mrazek.

His name only makes sense because of past speculation based on him having played for Ken Holland when he was with the Detroit Red Wings.
In no uncertain terms should the Oilers spend assets to acquire Mrazek.
His best hockey is no doubt behind him. The last time he played well was in two of his three seasons playing with the Carolina Hurricanes from 2018-19 to 2020-21. In that last season he had great numbers, but only played 12 games.

Additionally, he is injured almost every single year. A team as desperate as the Oilers can't take a chance on a goaltender made of glass.
If they are spending assets to bring someone in, they need to have a certain degree of durability - Mrazek isn't that. Last year alone he injured his groin three times.
It would be the worst case scenario for the Oilers to spend multiple assets to acquire a goalie, only to have him get injured in his first week of playing.

The Oilers need a goalie, but they should look elsewhere.
