
The Edmonton Oilers have signed two defensemen who will help improve their depth.
The Edmonton Oilers have signed Noel Hoefenmayer to a one-year, two-way contract. He will make $845,000 at the NHL level and $82,500 in the minors.

Hoefenmayer, 24, just completed his first full season in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Toronto Marlies. Overall, it was a solid year for the Ontario native, as he posted 11 goals and 38 points. The 6-foot defenseman also played with a bit of an edge, recording 114 penalty minutes.
The Oilers have also added Ben Gleason, signing him to a two-year contract. He will make $775,000 at the NHL level and $425,000 in the minors. It also becomes a one-way deal during the second season of the contract.

Gleason, 25, spent the entirety of the 2022-23 season with the Texas Stars. Appearing in 68 games, the 6-foot-1 defenseman had nine goals and 33 points. He also stands out as a possible call-up candidate for the Oilers when injuries inevitably arise.

In other news, the Oilers' development camp started today (July 3) and will continue until Thursday (July 6). Some key prospects participating in camp include Beau Akey, Xavier Bourgault, and Jayden Grubbe.
