The Edmonton Oilers are making a few moves today. During a 4-3 loss to the Dallas Stars, the Oilers lost forward Connor Brown to injury.
In order to make room for a call up, the Oilers had to send a player down. Because they are carrying seven defensemen they sent down Philip Broberg. That might be the best thing for the blueliner right now - because she wasn't playing enough for the big club.
There was some speculation as to who the call up would be, but the team confirmed who we all suspected it would be.
Raphael Lavoie will join the Oilers. We will see if he can arrive in Edmonton before the 1pm Mountain Time game against the Nashville Predators tomorrow (Saturday November 4th).
The 2019 38th overall draft pick has seven points in five AHL games this year. He's averaged more than five shots per game with 27 shots on goal.
Between Lavoie and Sam Gagner, the two of them are injecting the team with some new energy and perspective. That should pay off sooner than later.
