Jeff Marek reports that a Nashville Predators defenseman may be on the move before the trade deadline.
EDMONTON -- 'Tis the season for rumors and speculation. As you would expect from a team chasing a Stanley Cup, the Edmonton Oilers appear to be in a lot of them.

Now on a three game winning streak, the Oilers look to make it four games tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
As far as potential trades go; Chris Tanev, Jake Guentzel, Pavel Buchnevich, Jordan Eberle and Tyler Toffoli are just a handful of names that have been spoken in the same sentence as the Oilers. Tanev has already been traded (to the Dallas Stars) but there are many boots that have yet to drop.

One team that hasn't had a lot of buzz surrounding them is the Nashville Predators. However, they have a lot of depth options up front that could be of interest to contending teams hoping to make deep playoff runs.
Jeff Marek of Sportsnet recently published a column with some trade deadline notes. There is one note about the Predators that is particularly interesting.
Marek wrote, "one Predators player to keep your eye on is defenseman Alexandre Carrier who's on an expiring deal and most likely to be moved."

According to Marek the Predators are keen on making room for one of their AHL defensemen - Spencer Stastney. They also have $8-million in deadline space and want to utilize it like the Carolina Hurricanes and New Jersey Devils have already.
Carrier is on the Oilers radar. He has 19 points in 57 games. While averaging 18:26 a night he's also not afraid to get in shooting lanes - as his 114 blocks bear witness to. He's only on the hook for $2.5-million for this season.
