Team Canada won their first game of the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship tournament. They went 2-1 in the pre-tournament round games.

Canada vs Finland was the second game of the tournament to reach a conclusion on Boxing Day. They won 5-2 against Finland.

Canada out-shot Finland 31 to 26 by the end of the game. Fraser Minten was kept off the scoresheet despite registering three shots and playing 20:45.

Macklin Celebrini, Matthew Poitras, Owen Allard, Nate Danielson and Maverick Lamoureux were the goal scorers for Canada.

Lamoureux was drafted by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2022 NHL Entry draft at 29th overall. The 6-foot-7 defender also recorded an assist in 26:08 of time on ice - the most of any Team Canada skater.

He was one half of the top pairing alongside Denton Mateychuk. Mateychuk played just over 25 minutes in the win.

Canada's next game is tomorrow against Latvia. Game starts at 11:30 am Mountain Time.
