    Team Canada will play three pre-competition games and four tournament games.

    The 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship kicks off in earnest on December 26th, 2023 - Boxing Day. Exhibition-style games are already underway and carry through till Christmas Eve, December 24th.

    Team Canada Forward Fraser Minten

    The Edmonton Oilers get a five-day break from games starting on Saturday the 23rd. With an absence of Oilers games, we will be providing coverage for all Team Canada games at the World Junior Championship.

    The tournament is hosted by Sweden in Gothenburg this year. Because of this, all games will air earlier in the day than typical.

    Pre-Competition Games

    Team Canada plays two games before the the tournament starts, and they are both a doozy.

    Tournament Schedule for Team Canada

    They will play four tournament games in total:

    Three of the four games are all at the same time, 11:30 AM. It will be a bright start to the day on Boxing Day with Team Canada playing at 6:30 AM.

    Once the tournament concludes there will be quarterfinal games, semifinal games and then medal games. The quarterfinals will be on January 2nd, 2024. January 4th & 5th will be the semifinals and medal games respectively.

    Celebrini & Minten Leading the Charge

    Macklin Celebrini recorded a goal and two assists in Canada's opening pre-tournament game against Denmark. Celebrini is eligible to be drafted in the upcoming 2024 NHL entry draft. He's projected to go first overall by many draft pundits.

    Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Fraser Minten is leaving his stamp on the tournament early. He scored two goals to go along with an assist on Celebrini's goal.
