The former Edmonton Oiler forward is finding his game early in the pre season.

Exhibition season is in full swing. Teams are playing pre season games, and prospects who play in the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) are getting sent down to their junior teams.

The Edmonton Oilers have made one move of this nature, sending Beau Akey back to the OHL's Barrie Colts. He had an impressive main camp, in addition to being one of the best players during rookie camp.

Exhibition games are a great time to try out different line combinations - as well as give veterans the right amount of playing time to shake off the summer rust and get up to playing speed.

Connor Brown is one of those players for the Oilers. He will see minimal game action, as aggravating his injury could mean the end of another season.

However, one team is having some success this exhibition season - in no small part due to the acquisition of Kailer Yamamoto. The 24-year old winger signed a one year contract with the Seattle Kraken this off season.

In their latest game against the Calgary Flames, the Kraken won by a score of 5-3. Yamamoto scored two goals on four shots in 20:24 of time on ice. He played eight minutes combined between penalty kill and the power play. 

While it can be tough for fans to see a favorite player leave the organization, it's great to see Yamamoto see some success. Even if it's only pre season.
