EDMONTON -- Donald Trump is now the 47th President of the United States.

The President held his inauguration ceremony yesterday. He also signed several executive orders, including declaring a national emergency at the southern border, delaying the TikTok ban, and making other actions and proclamations.
Many sports figures were in attendance, including a current and former Edmonton Oilers player.
Evander Kane was rumored to have been invited to the event. His attendance was confirmed via his Instagram stories, which featured images taken yesterday. Several of those images were taken after the ceremony, at a celebration last night.
Mike Tyson, Jon Jones, and Wayne Gretzky were some of the other sports icons he was spotted with during the evening. Of course, this wasn't the first time Gretzky attended a Trump-related event; he himself was invited to a few election events back in November.
Kane is currently recovering from knee surgery and sports hernia surgery in September 2024. He hasn't played a game for the Oilers this season.
Three balls were hosted to celebrate the occasion: a Commander-in-Chief Ball, a Liberty Ball, and the Starlight Ball. It is unclear which Ball the Oilers' forward attended. However, it is safe to assume that it was not the Commander-in-Chief ball, as that is geared toward military service members.
