One insider reports Steve Staios is being eyed for a role within the Senators organization. Another insider reports that he isn't going anywhere just yet.
Tell me if you've heard this before: two different insiders are giving conflicting reports about an individual's future with their current organization.
Steve Dangle tweeted out saying that he heard Steve Staios was being considered for a role with the Ottawa Senators, specifically the general manager (GM) position. Jason Gregor released an article today that had a note about Staios staying on with the Edmonton Oilers and expanding his responsibilities with the club.
The new owners of the Senators need to complete the process of purchasing the team, which is expected to conclude over the summer and/or into the early fall. In the meantime don't expect to hear anything be announced regarding the Senators until the new owners take stock of the organization. They will need to look at everyone presently employed and make a decision on what is best for the team moving forward.
Immediately following the Oilers' exit from the playoffs Frank Seravalli on The DFO Rundown Podcast spoke about how the Oilers see Staios as the next GM of the team. We will see if anything that transpires this summer will change that.
