For a second year in a row, this Edmonton Oilers forward is looking to set a career high in points.

Edmonton Oilers look to bounce back from their embarrassing Game 1 loss to the Vancouver Canucks.

For the Edmonton Oilers to make the playoffs, they need contributions up and down their line up on a nightly basis. Perhaps the most impressive thing about last night's victory was the lack of scoring from Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

Both forwards were kept off of the scoresheet. That was the fifth time Draisaitl didn't register a point, and McDavid's third straight game of not producing.

Zach Hyman has been as consistent as the top two Oilers players this year. Last night however, he proved his worth to the team by showing the rest of them how they can break out of their offensive funk.

With 13 points in 13 games, Hyman is on pace to match his totals from last season. He played hard last night, was in the right place at the right time and was rewarded for his efforts.

He has a career 12.6% shooting percentage, and this year he's scored on 20% of his shots. That may be unsustainable, but his even strength shooting percentage is 12.9%. In five of the past six seasons his 5x5 shooting percentage has hovered around 10-11%, only a touch lower than what he's had this year.

McDavid and Draisaitl have some time to find their scoring touch again - and in the interim, Hyman can help lead the way for the forward group.
