Sam Gagner shares an interesting connection to someone within the Oilers organization.

The Edmonton Oilers made a few changes in the off season to prepare for the 2023-24 regular season. One of those changes was transitioning from Bob Nicholson being the CEO of hockey operations - to Jeff Jackson taking over the position.

Most know about the relationship between Jackson and Connor McDavid. Jackson has been his agent since he was 15 years-old. Jackson was also Connor Brown's agent before his transition into hockey operations.

There is another Oiler who has known Jackson for a very long time - Sam Gagner. When Jackson first became a player agent, Gagner was his first client. Sam's father Dave, has known Jackson for a very long time and was the first person to put the thought into Jackson's head about becoming an agent.

Dave worked in player development for the Vancouver Canucks for many years. It would appear that Sam has taken a lot of his father's advice. Sam is looking to continue his hockey career and play in his 18th NHL regular season.

Sam was a beloved Oiler in his earlier stints with the organization. If his PTO is converted into a standard player contract, he gets to keep his dream of playing in the NHL alive.
