A new addition to the Edmonton Oilers top six made a great impression in his first game on a new line.
The Edmonton Oilers are only three games into their 2023-24 season, and they have already tinkered with their line combinations.
At Monday's practice they took Connor Brown off of Connor McDavid's wing and put him in Warren Foegele's spot on the third line.
Foegele was then on a new-look second line. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Zach Hyman and Foegele were an excellent line for the Oilers on Tuesday night.
As a line they scored two goals, with each of the other linemates providing the assists. That's six points total in one game. That's incredible results in one game.
Nugent-Hopkins has incredible vision to go along with elite passing and shooting. Hyman grinds, has excellent puck protection and a nose for the net. Foegele brings pace, energy and a surprisingly accurate shot.
Foegele has been a great secondary scorer for the Oilers, with 12 and 13 goals scored in the past two seasons. This excellent deployment could see his goal total hit 20 before the end of the year - provided he keeps it.
He's also in a contract year, so there is monetary incentive for him to step up his game.
