The Edmonton Oilers are assessing if they need to free up more cap space. They have Evan Bouchard and Ryan McLeod as restricted free agents (RFA) to sign to new contracts.

McLeod just filed for arbitration this past week. One way that's a good thing for the Oilers is that it protects him from an offer sheet. Bouchard is not eligible for arbitration, so the threat of an offer sheet could be very real. He experienced a breakout performance over the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs and is an important member of the organization.

To address this threat, the Oilers will need to clear up cap space. So I took to Twitter to have the fan base weigh in on who should be dealt. Here are the results:

Cody Ceci garnered 62.5% of the 96 votes to be the sacrificial lamb - should the Oilers need to go that route. Warren Foegele was next with 20.8% followed by Brett Kulak at 11.5%.

Regardless of what the fans think, Ken Holland has his work cut out for him to try and fit everyone he wants to sign.
