Connor McDavid and Connor Brown are now on the Edmonton Oilers together, but they have more in common than just the jersey they wear.

Connor McDavid and Connor Brown are now on the Edmonton Oilers together, but they have more in common than just the jersey they wear.

Connor McDavid is the face of the Edmonton Oilers franchise. He is the straw that stirs the offensive drink. Connor Brown is a fantastic role player who played junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with McDavid. They are reunited again, and will more than likely get an opportunity to play together on the same line over the course of the next season.

That is not the only thing that these two NHLers have in common. They were both born in Ontario, they both played for the Erie Otters in the OHL, and they both have the same player agent, Jeff Jackson of Wasserman Hockey.

The business end of the hockey world can often be overlooked in favor of the on-ice product. Having the same agent probably made it easy for the two players to discuss the potential of playing together. McDavid is Jackson's top earning client. The two other big names under his care are the Detroit Red Wings' Alex Debrincat and Florida Panthers' defenceman Aaron Ekblad.

Another fun factoid about the newest Oiler teammates - their birthdays are back-to-back. McDavid's is on January 13th while Brown's is on January 14th. Cool little connections like that can help build comradery in the locker room and develop on-ice chemistry. Come September, we will see if (and when) these two players will hop over the boards together. The Oilers coaching staff will definitely have that as an option. I believe that Brown might be better suited for a third line role with Ryan McLeod and Warren Foegele, we will need to wait until opening night in October to see what transpires.
