Despite these successful transitions to new teams, there is one former Oiler who is not as lucky. Josh Archibald of the Tampa Bay Lightning has been put on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract. This is curious because the depth forward has just signed a deal with the Lightning on the opening of Free Agency this past July. The Lightning have issued a press release on the matter. The release states that Archibald & his agent informed Lightning General Manager Julien BriseBois that he would not report to training camp. Additionally, he wasn't planning on playing hockey for the "time being". It's never an easy decision for a player to step away from the NHL for any length of time.
