Can Matthew Schaefer Score 30 Goals This Season?

It's going to be close. 

Schaefer is on track to score 26 goals this season, but as he showed against the Habs, he can score goals in a hurry. He's now scored five in his past five games with 21 games left to go.

Only two defensemen in the cap era have been able to score 30 goals in a season: Mike Green for the Caps in 2008-09 and Cale Makar in 2024-25. Schaefer is already in rarefied air with 20 goals in his rookie season, and it's quite obvious the sky is the limit for the Isles' phenom.
