Arturs Silovs made 25 saves in a 3-0 shutout win against the Rangers in his Penguins debut. He was a surprising choice to start the season opener by head coach Dan Muse, who eschewed incumbent Tristan Jarry.

Acquired from the Canucks, Silovs was the AHL Calder Cup MVP last season and has a history of stepping up in big games, including for his native Latvia.
