
No doubt Canada had the best team in the Olympics. That's coming from a Canadian, yes, but the proof was there and everyone saw it.
You have to wonder, though, with Josh Morrissey getting injured if Canada could've picked at least one more skilled defenseman who can move the puck up the ice and generate offense.
They were going for the tried, tested and true with the same defensemen that won the 4 Nations, but in doing so perhaps overlooked players who had improved significantly or outplayed those on that team.
It's understandable why Canada likely felt Matthew Schaefer was still too young and inexperienced, but he showed on Thursday why they should've made an exception.
The Calder favorite scored two goals in of 55 seconds in the second period against the Habs to tie the game, 2-2, setting the stage for a comeback win in overtime. His level of poise already matches his elite skill set, and he defends well, too, never panicking in any situation.
