One of the most exciting aspects of any fantasy hockey season is the incoming rookie class. Everyone's always on the lookout for the newest shiny thing. Young talent is the literal lifeblood of any franchise, not to mention the intrigue of seeing a player who can potentially turn around a moribund franchise.
As Rory Boylen notes, the 2011-12 rookie class is highlighted by another crop of "baby-faced stars." Boylen lists his top 10 rookies based by points projections, highlighted by Edmonton's Ryan Nugent-Hopkins at the top, followed by St. Louis' Brayden Schenn and Columbus' Ryan Johansen to round out the top three.
However, it was Colorado's Gabriel Landeskog, ranked fourth on the list, who ended up winning the Calder Trophy in 2012 with an exceptional 52-point season. Landeskog would later captain the Avalanche to the Stanley Cup a decade later.
