NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Defensemen Pickups March 3 – Tampa Bay's Cernak and New York's K'Andre Miller The Two To Add

On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues and can be selected in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games

Erik Cernak, TB @ FLA  (9% rostered)
Cernak, known for being a depth defenseman, channeled his inner Victor Hedman during the past month. The veteran blueliner had a somewhat surprising February with three goals and three assists over eight games. Overall, Cernak, second round pick by the Lightning in 2015, is at three goals, 13 assists, 47 shots on net, 118 hits, 76 blocked shots and a plus-25 rating through 53 appearances. He's two points away from matching his career-high 18 from the 2020-21 season, which came in just 46 games played.

K'Andre Miller, NYR vs. NYI (7% rostered)
I profiled Miller yesterday and he rewarded those who took my advice with a power play goal. Miller is seeing first line duty at even-strength and second line deployment on the power play with the injured Adam Fox sidelined and Ryan Lindgren now in  Colorado. If Miller is not available, add Zac Jones, who is manning the point on the first power play unit and seeing second line usage due to the prior absences mentioned.

Cernak and K'Andre Miller are great waiver wire targets—both offer solid defensive stats and can contribute offensively too. Definitely worth adding if you’re looking to boost your blue line!
