NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Forward Pickups March 24 - Haula At Your Boy Offensively in New Jersey

On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies are rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues and can be selected in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games.

Drew O'Connor, LW, VAN @ NJ (0% rostered)
This is a recency bias selection with only four games on the docket. O'Connor has goals in two of his last three games skating on Vancouver's third line. The two tallies move O'Connor up to 10 markers, a year after he lit the lamp 16 times, so he does have a bit of a scoring touch. O'Connor also provides a hit per contest and is up to 52 blocked shots as well, so he does contribute a bit across the board.

Erik Haula, C/LW, NJ vs. VAN (2% rostered)
Haula has been doing his best to help New Jersey's offense with Jack Hughes sidelined for the rest of the season. The 33-year-old center scored for the second straight contest Saturday and is up to five points over his last six games, a span that includes three of his eight tallies this season. Haula moved from center to left wing this season and has struggled overall, with just 16 points in 58 contests, a far cry from his production each of the past three seasons. Haula, though, may be closing hot based on his current output.

Simon Holmstrom, RW, NYI vs. CLM (2% rostered)
Holmstrom extended his point streak to four games with an assist Saturday. With that helper, the 23-year-old right winger is up to 17 goals, 38 points and 81 shots on net in 62 appearances this season. A former first round pick, 23 overall in 2019, Holmstrom has increased his production for the second straight season while skating on the top line on the Island. The next step for him is to produce on the man advantage, which looks more than likely as he skates on the team's top unit.

Marcus Johansson, LW, MIN @ DAL (1% rostered)
On days where only foru games are scheduled, sometimes a few dart throws are included. This is one such case. M-Jo is having a fairly typical season with seven goals, including two in his last three games, and 25 points through 60 outings. That production doesn't scream, add me to your fantasy roster. But with Minnesota managing without Kirill Kaprizov and Joel Eriksson Ek, Johansson remains as the second line, left wing, giving him a decent shot at production.

Barrett Hayton, C, UTAH vs. DET (14% rostered)
Hayton has had an up-and-down month, but still has seven points in 11 contests in March. The 24-year-old center is up to 39 points (17 goals, 22 assists), 133 shots on net, 40 blocked shots and a flat, plus-minus rating over 70 appearances. Hayton, the fifth overall pick in 2018, is centering Utah's second line and still has a decent chance at topping his career-high 43-point effort from 2022-23. One aspect that remains clear about his game is that Hayton needs to shoot more, as he likely will again finish at less than two-shots-per-contest.
