On every game day this season, THN Fantasy will highlight players and goalies for fantasy managers to stream or roster for the rest of the season. The recommended players and goalies can be used in standard fantasy leagues or for daily fantasy games.
Lane Hutson, MON at DET (44% rostered)
A brief pause where Hutson was held off the score sheet in a 9-2 loss to the Pens, but otherwise he's been fantastic. He's coming off a two-assist effort against the lowly Sabres and they should be well-rested in an upcoming home-and-home series against the Wings. Hutson has plenty of ROS value.
Jacob Trouba, ANA vs. COL (41% rostered)
Jackson LaCombe, ANA vs. COL (9% rostered)
I think the Avs are going to dominate puck possession and the Ducks will find themselves under a barrage of shots. That's good for Trouba's fantasy value because it'll give him opportunities to block a lot of shots and throw some hits. Radko Gudas (26% rostered) is also an option but I find his production tends to be lower than Trouba's.
If you're looking for offense, then target LaCombe. The talented defender has scored five points in his past three games and quarterbacks their top power play. His hold on the position isn't firm since Olen Zellweger and/or Pavel Mintyukov could steal some playing time, but between the three, LaCombe is the clear standout right now.
Niko Mikkola, FLA vs. STL (3% rostered)
There might be one time per season where Mikkola is worth rostering, and that time might be now. Asides from his usual contribution of blocks and hits, Mikkola has stepped up his offense. He's scored three points in his past two games and 12 shots in his past four games.
Declan Chisholm, MIN vs. UTA (0% rostered)
Chisholm can potentially provide nil fantasy value, but I think it's worth noting that Brock Faber may not be available in this game after getting hit by a puck, which opens the door for Chisholm to control PP2 while Jared Spurgeon continues to quarterback PP1. The Wild haven't gotten many power plays lately
Honorable mention:
Bowen Byram, BUF vs. TOR (32% rostered)
Matt Roy, WSH vs. CAR (14% rostered)
