Panthers fans belting out 'All the Small Things' during ECF has furrowed some brows

Colorado Avalanche fans became known for singing the Blink 182 classic during their run to the Stanley Cup last season

Fans of the Florida Panthers have been having a blast at FLA Live Arena this spring.

The simple things like waiving rally towels and tossing rats have taken on a grander feel, due to both the increased size of the crowds and the growing weight and importance behind each game.

There have also been great moments that have gotten the fans involved as a giant group, such as the classic wave (which has its biggest effect with a full house) and singalongs.

A recent rendition by the fans of Blink 182’s “All the Small Things” during the Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final has garnered some attention outside of South Florida, particularly in the Rocky Mountain region.

That’s because Colorado Avalanche fans have been having nightly singalongs of the classic Blink 182 jam for the past couple seasons, with sporadic jams happening even longer.

The attention grew last year due to the Avs run to the Stanley Cup and the team playing it in Ball Arena every playoff game.

I guess that means the Avalanche are the only team that can do it, right?

    Eh, not so much.

The same song has popped up countless times at Panthers game over the years, and once in a while, the crowd has been big enough to garner a decent, collective tune.

There are receipts, for those who doubt this.

Obviously with the giant postseason crowds and Florida making it all the way to the Final, the spotlight has zeroed in a bit more on Panthers fans.

To be fair, there were also great singalongs during the Eastern Conference Final of several songs that didn’t upset a fanbase across the country.

Over the past few weeks, Panthers fans have serenaded the players with “My Own Worst Enemy” by Lit, “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes and Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer.”

Fortunately - or unfortunately, depending on your music and taste - it’s been a while since we’ve heard Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline in the Sunrise hockey barn, but it’s been done before.

To sum things up, there are certain songs that you know belong to a certain team. “Chelsea Dagger” by The Fratellis is Chicago’s song, nobody sings Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” like they do in “South Detroit” (even though Little Caesars Arena is technically in midtown Detroit) and for one, magical spring, St. Louis and “Gloria” by Laura Branigan were synonymous with one another.

Has Colorado done enough to claim “All the Small Things” from all other teams and arenas?

I suppose that’s for you, the fan, to decide, but if your answer is yes, that message has yet to find its way to South Florida.
