    There was a good amount of excitement surrounding the Florida Panthers back in 2014.

    The team was only a season removed from its first playoff appearance in over a decade, and a bevy of new players was highlighted by the re-acquisition of franchise goaltender Roberto Luongo.

    New owners Vinny Viola and Doug Cifu were infusing life into the franchise, and the sense was in the air that things may finally be changing for the long suffering fanbase.
