Florida is starting a new tradition, giving out annual team awards at the end of the regular season

Florida Panthers hold full team practice at Amerant Bank Arena on April 10.

The Florida Panthers introduced a new tradition before Saturday’s home game.

Starting this year, the team will be giving out three Panthers Awards at the end of the regular season.

The awards are the Unsung Hero Award, the Three Stars Award and the Fan Choice Award.

According to the Panthers:

The Unsung Hero Award is an award voted on by the players to the teammate whose successes and self-sacrifices for the team resembled sportsmanship, dedication are not necessarily reflected in statistics.

The Three Stars Award is awarded to the player who received the most points for each time they were named a Star of the Game. Stars are voted on by attending local media and players accumulated points for each star they earned – three points for first star, two points for second star and one point for third star.

The Fan Choice Award is voted on by Panthers fans and awarded to the player based on being a pillar in the community and among the fanbase.

The inaugural Unsung Hero Award winner was goaltender Anthony Stolarz.

Winning the Three Stars Award was Sam Reinhart, which comes as little surprise considering the incredible season he’s having.

The Fan Choice Award went to Panthers captain Sasha Barkov.

Florida has one regular season game remaining before the Stanley Cup Playoffs arrive.

They’ll host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday night at Amerant Bank Arena.
