Panthers in Los Angeles to wrap up latest back-to-back set

Florida is looking for a third straight win while the Kings are looking to avoid a three-game losing streak

Panthers forward Tomas Nosek speaks after a team practice in Fort Lauderdale on Jan. 20.

It’s a good thing the Florida Panthers seem to enjoy playing on the road.

The Panthers latest extended road trip will continue on Wednesday night when they face the Los Angeles Kings at Crypto.com Arena.

Florida is fresh off Tuesday’s 5-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks and is looking for their third straight victory overall.

So far this season, the Panthers have been quite good on the second night of back-to-back sets, holding a 5-1-0 record in such situations.

If Florida is going to continue that trend, it will likely be with the help of goaltender Spencer Knight.

Considering starting goalie Sergei Bobrovsky played on Tuesday in Anaheim, Knight is expected to get the nod between the pipes against the Kings.

Knight has been lights out this month, holding a 3-0-0 record in January to go with a sparkling .969 save percentage and teeny 0.85 goals against average.

While Florida enters the game with wins in three of Florida, it’s been a different story lately for Loa Angeles.

After falling to the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins 5-1 on Monday night, the Kings have lost four of five, weakening their hold on third place in the Pacific Division.

The Panthers won’t hold a morning skate after playing Tuesday night in Anaheim, so there won’t be any updates on potential lineup changes until Florida Head Coach Paul Maurice speaks a couple hours before the game starts.

Defenseman Aaron Ekblad is with the Panthers on the road trip and could return from his six game absence at any time.

Here are the Panthers projected lines and for Wednesday’s war with the Kings:

Matthew Tkachuk – Sasha Barkov – Sam Reinhart

Eetu Luostarinen – Sam Bennett – Mackie Samoskevich

Carter Verhaeghe – Anton Lundell – Jesper Boqvist

Evan Rodrigues – Tomas Nosek – A.J. Greer

    Gus Forsling – Dmitry Kulikov

    Niko Mikkola – Nate Schmidt

    Tony Bjornfot – Uvis Balinskis

Scratches: Aaron Ekblad, Jonah Gadjovich, Adam Boqvist
