Brad Marchand speaks to the South Florida media on Monday, March 10, 2025 at the Baptist Health IcePlex in Fort Lauderdale. (Florida Panthers)

Brad Marchand was on the ice at TD Garden in Boston on Tuesday morning.

    Nothing new there.

Except, he was wearing a Florida Panthers jersey.

For the first time since Friday’s Trade Deadline deal that brought Marchand to the Panthers, he was on the ice with his new teammates.

That came as something of a surprise, considering Marchand had been labeled week-to-week with an upper-body injury he suffered six days before the trade.

When he spoke to the South Florida media on Monday, Marchand said he was hopeful to get on the ice the following day.

Little did we know, that would be for a formal morning skate, in a regular-colored (non-non-contact) jersey, as opposed to an on-ice workout with Florida’s training staff before or after the morning skate, which would be normal for a player rehabbing an injury.

Alas, Marchand was out there with the Cats.

During line rushes, he skated with on the top unit with Sasha Barkov and Carter Verhaeghe.

Whether or not that means anything for Marchand’s game status remains to be seen. Florida will face the Bruins at 7 p.m.

Panthers Head Coach Paul Maurice will address the media following the morning skate.

    UPDATE:

While speaking to the media, Maurice said he is hopeful Marchand will return at some point during the regular season.

He won’t be playing Tuesday night in Boston.
