Florida Panthers Development Camp is off and running at the Ice Den in Coral Springs.
After two days and four on-ice sessions, its clear Geordie Kinnear, who is the head coach of Florida's AHL affiliate in Charlotte and runs D-camp, is working the kids on some of the foundational pieces of playing hockey: skating and strength.
He spoke about it on Monday while explaining his plan for the week.
In addition to the hockey-related activities, the prospects will also be having some fun while doing some team-building.
They've had a group dinner and spent some time at the beach, and Tuesday night they're attending the Blink 182 concert at FLA Live Arena.
They'll also be attending a group cooking class at some point this week.
It's all part of the well-rounded experience the Panthers are providing for the prospects.
In terms of Tuesday's work on the ice, it was not very different from Monday's practice sessions.
There were multiple skating drills, some with pucks and some without, with most taking up the entire sheet of ice.
Later in the sessions did they get into some individual skill work, mixing in some passing and shooting.
Those kind of drills are expected to increase as they get deeper into the week.

WHAT THEY SAID
Skyler Brind'Amour on what advice his dad gave him ahead of camp: "Just don't take a backseat. You can play hockey, and its hockey. Go out there and just work your balls off."
Kai Schwindt on what he wants to improve on ahead of next season: "I'm trying to work on my physical play, just winning those battles in the corner, and obviously I just need to get bigger, stronger, and more body strength is a big thing for me. I've been working on that for sure."
Jack Devine on former University of Denver teammate Mike Benning signing his ELC with Florida: "I think it's definitely great for me to have like an outlet like that, to be able to communicate with him. I think he really enjoyed his time here, he enjoyed being at the rink every day and learning from a lot of the pro guys here. It's also nice if I have any questions here, I can ask him, 'How are the guys, how are the coaches, how are the practices,' so that's been pretty nice."
Ludovic Waeber on chatting with Roberto Luongo: "It's a big deal. Back home, I had a poster of him on my wall in my room, so it was kind of impressive for me to talk with him." (Waeber admitted the poster of Luongo was from his days with the Canucks, but we'll let that slide).
Marek Alscher on attending his second development camp: "I feel like this year is way harder. The schedule is a little bit harder, but there's a lot of team building stuff. Today we go to the (Blink 182) concert, so that's going to be awesome. I'm just enjoying the time with the guys. I know way more guys than last year, so for me it's way more fun."
Gracyn Sawchyn on his impressions of development camp: "It's really good, super professional. A huge step from juniors, so that's good to see, and just see what you need to do to get to the next level."
