Five Finnish members of the Panthers joined President Stubb for dinner on their native soil
Tuesday was a very special day for a group of Florida Panthers players.
Over the past month, members of the Panthers have been living their best lives, enjoying the offseason with the amazing feeling of being Stanley Cup Champions.
The stories have been coming fast and furious, showing what the different members of the team have been doing to enjoy their championship summer.
Florida’s four Finnish players – Sasha Barkov, Anton Lundell, Eetu Luostarinen and Niko Mikkola – as well as assistant coach Tuomo Ruutu, are still waiting for their respective days with Lord Stanley, but that didn’t stop them from having an incredible experience on their home soil.
Those five Cats spent time visiting with the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, on Tuesday.
Photos posted on social media show the five Panthers meeting with Stubb before they sat down for dinner together.
Barkov, Florida’s team captain, was the first Finn to be handed the Stanley Cup. He was seen in one of Stubb’s photos presenting him with a Panthers jersey.
“An honour to host our Finnish Stanley Cup winners,” Stubb wrote on Instagram. “Great gang. We are so proud of you guys.”

At some point this summer, the Stanley Cup is expected to make the trip overseas for some good times in Finland, Sweden and beyond.
The Panthers will all be back in a few months when they host the Dallas Stars for a pair of NHL regular season games in Finland.
They are scheduled for Nov. 1 and 2 from Nokia Arena in Tampere.
