Scripps Sports will broadcast 70 locally produced Panthers games this season

Scripps Sports will broadcast 70 locally produced Panthers games this season

Over the summer, the Florida Panthers made a significant move that impacts the way fans are able to watch them on TV.

The Panthers moved off of cable and struck a deal with Scripps Sports to broadcast all locally produced games for free over the airwaves.

On Friday at 6 p.m., the first official Panthers broadcast on Scripps networks will air on WSFL-TV Channel 39 in South Florida.

The 30-minute special called ‘Road to the Cup’ will air during WSFL’s Inside South Florida, with hosts Cameron Dobbs and Ana Isabel Hume giving fans “an inside look at what it took – both on and off the ice – for the Panthers to become 2024 Stanley Cup Champions.”

It will mark the first broadcast of the Panthers new partnership with Scripps Sports.

This season, Scripps will locally produce 70 Cats games while another 12 will be nationally broadcast.

Returning on the Panthers local broadcast are play-by-play voice Steve Goldsten, analyst Randy Moller, sideline reporter Katie Engelson, studio host Jessica Blaylock and studio analyst Ed Jovanovski.

In addition to the regular season slate, Scripps Sports will also be broadcasting four of Florida's preseason games.

They are on Sept. 27 and Sept. 28 against Carolina, as well as Sept. 30 and Oct. 2 against Tampa Bay.
