Former Florida Panthers head athletic trainer Stan Wong will be inducted into the USA Hockey Hall of Fame alongside Phil Kessel, Amadan Kessel, T.J. Oshie, and Ryan Suter.
On Thursday, USA Hockey revealed its 2026 Hockey Hall of Fame inductees, headlined by former Florida Panthers head athletic trainer Stan Wong.
Joining Wong in the 2026 class are the Kessel siblings, three-time Stanley Cup champion Phil Kessel, one-time Olympic gold medalist Amanda Kessel, one-time Cup winner T.J. Oshie, and 1,500-game steady defenseman Ryan Suter.
Wong had a brief stint with the Panthers, serving as head athletic trainer for just three seasons, from 1999 to 2002. Prior to joining the Panthers, Wong was the head athletic trainer for the Washington Capitals for 13 seasons.
After his stint in Florida, Wong became the athletic trainer for Team USA hockey, a role he has held from 2002 to 2026. Wong's tenure with Team USA began at the Deutschland Cup in 2002. Since then, Wong has been the athletic trainer at every World Junior Championship, World Championship, and every Olympics except 2026.
In total, Wong took home seven gold, one silver, and five bronze medals at the world juniors, one gold and five bronze medals at the World Championships, and two silver medals at the Olympics.
According to the USA Hockey press release: "Wong was inducted into the Professional Hockey Athletic Trainers Society and the Society of Professional Hockey Equipment Managers Hall of Fame in 2015 and received USA Hockey’s Bob Johnson Award, recognizing excellence in international hockey, in 2020. Most recently, Wong was honored with the Dr. Alan Ashare Excellence in Safety Award by USA Hockey, given to an individual who has made outstanding contributions through many years of service to make hockey a safer game for all participants."
In addition to his NHL career, Wong began his professional sports career in the NFL, serving as the athletic trainer for the Philadelphia Eagles.
