Former Florida Panthers winger A.J. Greer has signed a four-year, $4.25 million AAV contract with the Anaheim Ducks. Is Radko Gudas, the return the Panthers received when they traded Greer, next?
A.J Greer is officially gone.
While it was just a matter of time, Greer has signed a four-year, $4.25 million AAV contract with the Anaheim Ducks. Greer’s deal with the Ducks includes a 10-team no-trade list in all four seasons of the contract.
This deal became possible due to a trade between the Panthers and the Ducks. The Panthers sent Greer to the Ducks in exchange for Radko Gudas. Both players were pending UFAs, free to sign with whatever team of their choosing on July 1.
Greer was almost always a guarantee to move on this off-season. Playing in an elevated role on an injured Panthers team, Greer took advantage of the opportunity, scoring a career-high 17 goals and 32 points in 78 games.
With the Panthers returning to full health, Greer was never going to find the ice time he had during the 2025-26 season, and it was in his best interest to find a home where he could play possible third-line minutes and cash out of a contract as he did.
Outside of the depth offense, Greer brings a level of physicality matched by very few players. The Ducks have plenty of young, skilled forwards, but they need players like Greer who will bring a physical element while scoring timely goals.
On the Panthers’ side of things, they’re hoping they can come to terms with Gudas. Free agency opens at noon on July 1, giving the Panthers limited time to come to an agreement with Gudas before he becomes eligible to sign with any of the 32 NHL teams.
There are reports that Gudas’ contract could come in at around $2 million, and plenty of insiders expect Gudas and the Panthers to come to terms.
