
The Florida Panthers are hosting a few dozen of the team’s top prospects this week for the Cats annual Development Camp.
Camp includes four days of work both on and off the ice at the Panthers’ practice rink in Coral Springs, which got started on Monday afternoon.
A total of 37 prospects were there, including 19 forwards, 12 defensemen and six goaltenders.
Many of those who were on the ice have either been drafted by or are currently under contract with the Panthers organization.
Here is some info on each of those players:
FORWARDS
Mackie Samoskevich – 2021, 24th overall – Made pro debut with AHL Charlotte in the spring, logging two assists in two regular season games and four assists in seven playoff games. Had 30 goals and 72 points in two seasons with the University of Michigan. Signed his three-year ELC in May of this year.
Jack Devine – 2022, 221st overall (seventh round) – Has 17 goals and 50 points in 74 games with the University of Denver, including 14 goals and 31 points in 38 games last season. Unsigned.
Josh Davies – 2022, 186th overall (sixth round) – Has 42 goals, 79 points and 268 penalty minutes over 149 games with the WHL’s Swint Current Broncos. Unsigned.
Gracyn Sawchyn – 2023, 63rd overall (second round) – Had 18 goals and 58 points in 58 games as a rookie with the WHL’s Seattle Thunderbirds last season. Unsigned.
Owen Lindmark – 2019, 137th overall (fifth round) – Had 15 goals and 44 points over four seasons with the University of Wisconsin. Unsigned.
Ryan McAllister – undrafted – Had 13 goals and 49 points in 39 games with Western Michigan University last season. Signed his three-year ELC with the Panthers in April of this year.
Jakub Kos – 2021, 184th overall (sixth round) – Has not played in North America yet. Unsigned.
Elliot Ekmark – 2020, 198th overall (seventh round) – Has not played in North America yet. Unsigned.
Liam Arnsby – 2022, 214th overall (seventh round) – Has 25 goals and 76 points in 155 games with the OHL’s North Bay Battalion spanning from 2019 until last season. He also served as North Bay’s captain in each of the past two seasons.
Sandis Vilmanis – 2022 157th overall (fifth round) – Had 20 goals and 45 points in his first season with the OHL’s Sarnia Sting last year. Unsigned.
Kai Schwindt – undrafted – Has 24 goals and 42 points in 135 games with the OHL’s Mississauga Steelheads. Signed his three-year ELC with the Panthers in September of 2022.
Forward Skylar Brind’Amour signed a one-year AHL deal with Charlotte back in April after finishing his collegiate career at Quinnipiac. The 2017 sixth round pick of the Edmonton Oilers is the son of Carolina Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour.
The Panthers signed forward Wilmer Skoog signed a one-year AHL deal with Charlotte in April. He just completed a four-year collegiate career with Boston University, racking up 40 goals and 76 points in 103 NCAA games.
DEFENSEMEN
Marek Alscher – 2022, 93rd overall (third round) – Has 15 goals and 40 points in 121 games with the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks over the past two seasons. Signed his three-year ELC in March of this year.
Evan Nause – 2021, 56th overall (second round) – Has 17 goals and 97 points in 131 games with the QMJHL’s Quebec Ramparts over the past three seasons. Signed his three-year ELC in July of 2022.
Ludvig Jansson – 2022, 125th overall (fourth round) – Has not played in North America yet. Unsigned.
Kasper Puutio – 2020, 153rd overall (fifth round) – Has not played in North America yet. Unsigned.
Luke Coughlin – 2023, 191st overall (sixth round) – Has nine goals and 37 points in two seasons with the QMJHL’s Rimouski Oceanic. Unsigned.
