Stolarz has a strong .911 save percentage and 2.93 goals against average during his six NHL seasons
The Florida Panthers are adding a goaltender to the team’s stable of tendies.
Florida is signing Anthony Stolarz to a 1-year deal, THN has learned.
The contract is expected to be in the range of $1 million.
Stolarz has been in the league for six seasons after being selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the second-round of the 2012 NHL Draft.
He’s spent the past four seasons with the Anaheim Ducks, earning a 21-18-3 record with a .913 save percentage and 2.88 goals against average during his time there.
Last season Stolarz went just 5-6-0 though, and his statistics were some of the worst of his career: an .897 save percentage and 3.73 goals against average.
Now the 29-year-old is signing a one-year deal and looking to have a bounce back, bet on yourself kind of season with Florida, where he’ll likely act as the team’s safety net behind Sergei Bobrovsky and Spencer Knight.
As we saw last season with Alex Lyon, the importance of having a solid third goaltender cannot be stressed enough.
