Spittin' Chiclets Co-Host and Ex-Panther Ryan Whitney Declares Florida The Best Team In The NHL

Do you agree with Whit? Are the Panthers the best team in Hockey?

Ryan Whitney made a big statement on the Panthers last week that shouldn't be all that surprising.

The nine-year NHL veteran, who is now the co-host of the Spittin' Chiclets Podcast, relayed a story about how a Western Conference GM told one of his scouts en route to play the Panthers that “were going to the play the best team in the NHL”.

While this should not come as a shocker, considering the Panthers were Stanley Cup finalists last season and are currently sitting in second place overall in the NHL, it is nice to see the Panthers get the proper recognition they deserve nationally on such a big national platform.

Last year’s playoff run was viewed as somewhat of a fluke by a lot of NHL pundits, as it is rare to see a wild card team go all the way to the final. However, the Panthers have silenced their critics with their play this season.

Not that they needed it, but the deadline acquisition of veteran Vladimir Tarasenko is sure to help offensively and he brings with him plenty of playoff experience, as he is the only member of the Panthers roster with a Stanley Cup Ring.

It will be exciting to watch how the rest of this season and the playoffs unfold in Sunrise. But as the Western GM stated, the Panthers are for real. It's a message that is being shared across the hockey world.
